No new positive COVID tests for Patriots Monday morning

By Alex Barth, 985TheSportsHub.com According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the Patriots' Sunday round of testing for COVID-19 yielded no positive results. This follows a positive test on Saturday (revealed Sunday morning) that shut down the team's facility for the third time in 10 days. That test also led to the postponement of their Week 5 (now Week 6) matchup with the Broncos, as well as the rescheduling of seven other games around the league. The Patriots players have scheduled off days Monday and Tuesday after what was supposed to be their bye week got canceled. Currently, the plan if for them to return to the facility Wednesday and play Denver on Sunday, assuming there are no other positive tests. According to Pro Football Talk, the Patriots believe Byron Cowart, the latest player to test positive, caught the virus from Stephon Gilmore during the team's trip to Kansas City last week, and not at the facility. The Patriots had requested a bigger locker room in Kansas City to help prevent the spread of the virus, something the league did not grant them. Four Patriots players have now tested positive for COVID-19 since last Friday. Gilmore, Cowart, Cam Newton, and practice squad defensive tackle Bill Murray are those caught up in the outbreak so far.
