Abdul Carter will not work out at NFL Combine
Abdul Carter, a projected top-four pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, will not work out in the NFL Combine this week. Carter continues to recover from a shoulder injury he suffered in a game against Boise State on Dec. 31.
Carter’s agent Drew Rosenhaus released a statement about his client’s recovery, saying he was cleared to start training but is not yet up to form; however, they “fully expect Abdul to be recovered in time to work out at his pro day at Penn State, and he will perform at a very high level,” said Rosenhaus.
Penn State’s pro-day is scheduled for Mar. 28, meaning Carter is still likely a few weeks away from full form. But if Rosenhaus is telling the truth, Carter should be more than ready for the start of the training camp.
Carter is essentially a lock to be drafted in the top-five. Dane Brugler of The Athletic ranks Carter as the No. 2 prospect available, whereas both the NFL‘s Daniel Jeremiah and ESPN rank him at No. 1.
So, it is unlikely missing the combine will have any significant impact on his draft selection. It’s also becoming a growing trend for top picks to sit out of the combine. Players like the Patriots’ Drake Maye missed the combine in past years, but were still drafted early in the first round.
Combine or not, Abdul Carter will be one of the first players drafted.
