Bill Belichick set to publish new book, ‘The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football’
Adam Schefter of ESPN announced on Friday, via X, that former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will be publishing a book in May. The book will be titled: “The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football.”
Over his 48-year NFL career, Belichick filled various coaching roles. He is of course best known for his time as head coach for the New England Patriots from 2000-2023, when he won six Super Bowl championships in nine appearances. His team made the playoffs 17 times from 2001-21, and the Patriots had 266 total wins under him. He also famously served as defensive coordinator of the New York Giants for two Super Bowl wins in the 1986 and 1990 seasons.
The 72-year-old is not the only major figure to release a book discussing what he learned from his time in pro football. Former Green Bay Packers executive Ron Wolf released his own book, “The Packer Way: Nine Stepping Stones to Building a Winning Organization,” in 1998, which discussed the various steps he took to build the Packers into a winning franchise.

Essentially, “it “The Packer Way” is a guide for managers to build a successful program. His son, Eliot Wolf, ostensibly follows this model as the Patriots’ executive vice president of player personnel.
Belichick releasing a book also lines up with his recent public appearances. After being let go by the Patriots, Belichick began a career as a media analyst. He showed more of his personality as a member of the media, a contrast to his gruff demeanor when dealing with reporters as a coach.
The new book, like his role in the media, could be a part of a larger effort by Belichick to re-establish his image as a football genius, and to display a different side of his personality from how he was known as a head coach.
