Bears will be without both tackles for Patriots matchup on Sunday
The Chicago Bears will be without both starting offensive tackles when the New England Patriots come to town on Sunday.
The New England Patriots have had their share of offensive line questions so far this year. However heading into Sunday’s matchup with the Chicago Bears, it’s actually their opponent facing the bigger offensive line issues.
On Friday’s injury report, the Bears ruled out both starting tackles for Sunday’s game. Braxton Jones (knee) and Darnell Wright (knee) both won’t play. The Bears also ruled out backup lineman Kiran Amegadjie (calf) and safety Jaquan Brisker (concussion).
Chicago has three players listed as questionable. That group includes offensive lineman Ryan Bates (shoulder), who the team can return from IR and would help fill out the lineup up front with Jones and Wright out. Defensive lineman Darrell Taylor (knee) and linebacker Noah Sewell (knee) are both questionable as well.
Meanwhile the Patriots ruled out two defensive starters. Safety Kyle Dugger (ankle) will miss his third game in row. Linebacker Christian Elliss (abdomen) will also be out after not practicing all week.
Seven Patriots are questionable, including cornerback Alex Austin (ankle). Austin has been on IR and designated to return the last two weeks. Head coach Jerod Mayo said Friday morning that Austin is healthy, but the team hadn’t yet decided if he would be activated. In order to be eligible to play in this game Austin would have to be activated by Saturday at 4 p.m. ET but they have until this upcoming Wednesday before his timetable to return runs out.
The Patriots also have three of their own offensive linemen on the injury report. Tackle Vederian Lowe (shoulder) and guards Michael Jordan (ankle) and Layden Robinson (ankle) are all questionable. Joining them in that category are defensive line linemen Daniel Ekuale (abdomen) and Jaquelin Roy (neck) and safety Marte Mapu (neck).
