Drake Maye: He put the Patriots on his shoulders all day
On Monday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Scott Zolak showed some love to Drake Maye for putting the Patriots on his shoulders all day.
Mac Jones never had a game like that…
Scott Zolak:
That’s how much he stood out. You know, you watch a hockey game, the goalie makes this big save and the whole team goes and jumps on the goalie. They all went to Drake Maye after the loss. That’s where you’re at because he’s such an impactful player it feels on this team. Everybody went to tap him on the head and say, hey, hell of a game kid. I never saw that before in a loss like that. I’ve seen it after wins. Go jump on the kicker or quarterback after he makes the throw to win it. Somebody makes a big return.
Marc Bertrand:
They believe in the kid.
Scott Zolak:
Tom E. Curran after the game had the best line of the day, line of the year. That’s the kind of game where you go and buy your kid a Drake Maye jersey. You’re selling out the pro shop, you’re ordering for Christmas. That thing is under the tree wrapped. Home, away, red, you name it. Doesn’t matter. Pick one. Just give me 10. That type of moment, that game, I don’t remember one with Mac. Like we’ve won some games with Mac like that, but not where he you felt the team was on his shoulders all day. He’s your best rusher. You couldn’t gain more than two yards of rush with your running backs. And he can’t do that every week. That’s not fair to him. They won’t. You can’t rush him for 100 yards every week. He’s gonna get killed. He will. So get him help.

The biggest observations from the New England Patriots 20-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday in Nashville. What went wrong, and what can the team build on?

The Patriots’ issues in this game weren’t new. They struggled at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, missed chances on routine plays, and racked up eight accepted penalties.
“We have to be better. I have to be better. Coaches have to be better,” head coach Jerod Mayo said after the game. “We go back to the drawing board.”
Where do the Patriots need to get better the most? What, if any, was promising from Sunday? Let’s get into it with this week’s takeaways, starting with what was probably the most concerning outcome from this game…
