New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers was arrested on Saturday in Braintree on assault charges.

New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers was arrested on Saturday morning in Braintree. He will be charged with assault and battery, strangulation, and possession of a class “B” substance believed to be Cocaine. The story was first reported by Ryan Breslin of Boston25.

According to the report, Peppers, 29, was arrested after officers responded to a disturbance at a home, involving an altercation between two people. The victim was treated by EMS at the scene. Peppers is expected to be arraigned Monday in Quincy District Court.

The Patriots released a statement Monday morning. "We are aware of an incident involving Jabrill Peppers over the weekend in which the police are currently investigating. We will have no further comment at this time."

Peppers' arrest came the day before the Patriots' Week 5 game against the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots had ruled Peppers out for the game on Saturday afternoon, after he was listed on the injury report all week with a shoulder injury and was originally listed as questionable for the game.
