Zolak & Bertrand: Reacting to David Andrews being done for the season
On Wednesday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, the crew reacts to Patriots center David Andrews being done for the 2024-2025 season. Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo confirmed the news during his press conference earlier this morning.
What’s at risk in the locker room?
Marc Bertrand:
I don’t want to hear about how David Andrews not playing means Drake Maye can’t play. I don’t want to hear that.
Scott Zolak:
Well, you’re going to hear it. You said it, this gives them that excuse to shelf Drake Maye more.
Marc Bertrand:
I don’t want to hear that. I’m sure we will. I’ve got no doubt about it. David Andrews down.
Scott Zolak:
The hell are they waiting on?
Marc Bertrand:
They’ve had a loss of some guys in the room now too that would help defend against a player mutiny, right? That if things go bad, if things continue to go south… you lost Bentley and now Andrews. I know they’re still on the team, but they’re not there every day. Duggars hurt too. They’re losing some big key veteran voices, along with good players.
Scott Zolak:
It’s players that hold the room together. That’s what you’re talking about here. Just remember the Bailey Zappe and Mac Jones stuff. Which guy should be playing? Did the room become split? Did you have a pissed off locker room? With the changes and everything being different now and the environment different and culture different… are you going to be able to keep that held in? Are you going to be able to lasso that, so to speak? Or is it going to fester? Because according to the reports from last week, it’s already starting, right? People are waiting for May to play.
