Dolphins announce starting quarterback for Week 5 matchup with Patriots
Tyler Huntley will get the start at quarterback for the Miami Dolphins this Sunday against the New England Patriots.
Ever since Tua Tagovailoa’s concussion in Week 2, the Miami Dolphins quarterback situation has been week-to-week. However just two days after a Monday night loss to the Tennessee Titans, the Dolphins have reportedly decided on their starting quarterback for this Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.
On Wednesday, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel announced Tyler Huntley will get the start for Miami in Week 5. This will be Huntley’s second start for the Dolphins after initially signing with the team following Tagovailoa’s concussion.
In this first start of the season last week, Huntley completed 14 of his 22 passes 96 yards, with no touchdowns or interceptions. On the ground, he added 40 yards and a score on eight carries.
Prior to signing with the Dolphins, Huntley spent his first four NFL seasons with the Baltimore Ravens (and was still on their practice squad when Miami signed him in September). He’s started at least one game in each of the last three years.
For his career he has a 3-7 record in 10 starts, while completing 64.6 percent of his 342 pass attempts with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. He’s also run for 549 yards and four more scores. During his career Huntley was only active for one game against the Patriots (in 2022) but did not play.
As for the Patriots, head coach Jerod Mayo confirmed again on Wednesday that Jacoby Brissett is still the team’s starting quarterback.
