15 players begin week on Patriots’ injury report
The New England Patriots begin Week 5 with 15 players listed on their injury report.
Injuries have been a major issue for the New England Patriots early in this 2024 NFL season. The team is beginning Week 5 with 15 players listed on the initial injury report.
Five of the 15 players didn’t practice at all. That group is made up of wide receiver K.J. Osborn (shoulder), center David Andrews (shoulder), tackle Caedan Wallace (knee), and safeties Kyle Dugger (ankle) and Jabrill Peppers (shoulder). Andrews is expected to undergo shoulder surgery and be placed on IR by the team, but was in attendance at practice in street clothes.
Of the 10 players who were limited, the most notable are the three players who were designated to return from IR/PUP – wide receiver Kendrick Bourne (knee), linebacker Sione Takitaki (knee), and safety Marte Mapu (calf). Mapu’s listing is particularly notable because his injury was previously undisclosed.
Other new additions to the injury report who were limited are tight end Jaheim Bell (neck), guard Layden Robinson (ankle/wrist), and center Nick Leverett (ankle). Leverett appeared limited during the portion of practice open to the media, and without him and Andrews it was practice squad center Bryan Hudson getting most of the reps at the position during that period.
The remaining players were all on the Patriots’ injury report last week. They are guard Michael Jordan (ankle), tackle Vederian Lowe (knee), linebacker Anfernee Jennings (shoulder), and cornerback Jonathan Jones (shoulder).
On the other side of things, the Dolphins held a walkthrough instead of a full practice coming off of their Monday night game last week so their Wednesday injury report is a projection. They listed linebacker Jaelan Phillips (knee) and safety Jordan Poyer (shin) as non-participants. Phillips posted on social media on Wednesday he’s going to be out for the season.
Among the eight players listed as limited for Miami are running back Raheem Mostert (chest), wide receiver Braxton Berrios (ankle), tackle Terron Armstead (concussion), and cornerback Kendall Fuller (concussion). Wide receiver Odell Beckham (knee) was listed as a full participant.
