Scott Zolak: It’s time for the Patriots to make a QB change
On Monday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Scott Zolak explains why it’s time for the Patriots to make a QB change.
Each week it’s getting worse…
Scott Zolak:
That game felt like 28-0 and it was 13-0, 16-0. Like you’re there, but in the back of your mind you know you’re never going to move the ball. Once you get down two scores, and it’s a 2-possession game, it just feels so defeating compared to other years. Like even going back to last year or the year before, I’ve seen Mac Jones play decent football to where they’re going to find a way to get this going. I don’t feel that right now. Unless there’s a quarterback change. I think it’s time. I think this is the week. I love Jacoby Brissett for his toughness, and I think we know what he is, right? Week 1 he played about the best as he could on the road, picked up plays with his legs, picked up first downs, protected the football. But each week it’s gotten progressively worse. I mean, there’s no build from week to week to where you say, OK, this thing is starting to come around.
Marc Bertrand:
Yeah, they’re not putting anything together, right? There’s no real progress there to look at.
Scott Zolak:
He’s fumbling, you can’t throw a pick six. He can’t come in here and throw pick 6 when another guy’s open on the other side of the field. Nobody around Pop Douglas. Can’t have that happen.
Marc Bertrand:
If Drake Maye is looking as good as we’ve heard he’s been looking in practice, you know that there are other guys on that team that are saying we got to change.
Scott Zolak:
I think Rapsheet’s report is BS. I think maybe there’s too many people talking about it. I trust some people that are there every day. I trust Mike Reese, who’s going to sit in with us tomorrow. I trust Phil Perry, who’s in with us every Friday, who immediately after game sort of called BS on it because he has talked to people that thinks this is trending more towards Maye playing.
