Seahawks could be down top playmaker, starting tackle for Patriots matchup
The Seattle Seahawks may be missing at least two offensive starters for Sunday’s matchup against the New England Patriots.
For the second week in a row the New England Patriots could be in line to face an opponent limited on the offensive side of the ball due to injuries. Based on the final injury report of the week on Friday, the Seattle Seahawks could be without a key playmaker and starting offensive lineman for this Week 2 matchup.
Seattle listed both starting running back Kenneth Walker (oblique) and right tackle George Fant (knee) as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Patriots. Both players missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, with Friday’s practice in progress as the report was released.
Players listed as ‘doubtful’ on the injury report rarely end up playing that week. Last week 5 players across the NFL were listed as doubtful. None of the five played. Last year, 94 percent of players listed as doubtful didn’t play.
The Seahawks also ruled two players out outright. Starting linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (knee) and former Patriots tight end Pharaoh Brown (foot) will both be inactive for this game.
Two more Seahawks are questionable – linebackers Jerome Baker (hamstring) and Tyrel Dodson (shoulder). Seattle removed seven players from the injury report on Friday including starting wide receiver Tyler Lockett, tight end Noah Fant, guards Anthony Bradford and Laken Tomlinson, and cornerbacks Riq Woolen and Tre Brown.
As for the Patriots, Sidy Sow (ankle) was the only player ruled out for the second week in a row. Four players are questionable including starting guard Layden Robinson (shoulder), after he was added to the injury report on Thursday. However Robinson’s status was upgraded from limited to full on Friday, which could be an indication he’ll be ready to play on Sunday.
Running back JaMycal Hasty (knee), defensive end Deatrich Wise (shoulder), and safety Kyle Dugger (ankle) are all questionable as well after being limited on Friday. Five players were removed from the injury report on Friday including safety Jabrill Peppers.
