Phil Perry: Alex Van Pelt has had a good couple of months
On Friday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston made a point to highlight that Alex Van Pelt has had a couple of good months.
He’s executing Beetle’s plan…
Phil Perry:
It’s been a good couple months for Alex Van Pelt.
Marc Bertrand:
Alex Van Pelt gives off head coach vibes at the podium. Also, it’s been a good week.
Phil Perry:
We can talk about the couple of months he had. Did Drake Maye not develop from the beginning of training camp to the end?
Marc Bertrand:
Imagine if he actually played him during training camp. How much more he could’ve developed…
Phil Perry:
Okay, is that his call?
Marc Bertrand:
Yes, I think it is in this case.
Phil Perry:
You’re down on Alex Van Pelt because he likes Jacoby Brissett, even though you’re the guy who wants Drake Maye to not play early in the regular season. S he’s executing your plan, but you’re still down on the guy. But be that as it may, the quarterback developed.
Marc Bertrand:
He’s executing my plan but he didn’t do it the right way during training camp.
Phil Perry:
So, the quarterback is developed. He’s executing your plan. They had a good Week 1 plan. The plan was good. The passing game wasn’t great.
Marc Bertrand:
No disagreements so far.
Phil Perry:
Also, the Browns still suck without him, so that that wasn’t a him issue. At least it looks that way so far. So, it’s early, but it’s been a good couple of months.
Marc Bertrand:
I’ve never really talked much about the Browns, with or without them.
Phil Perry:
But that was a big talking point when he was hired. It was that even the Cleveland Browns don’t want him now. Now he’s your guy?
