?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 9, 2024">Patriots were the big winners last Sunday with a 16-10 win over the Bengals. The team wasn’t picked by anyone to win based off the offseason and the terrible preseason they had. But coach Jerod Mayo said they would be a running football team this season and that is what exactly happened in the win. One of the big questions at camp was when will the team see Drake Maye, which immediately after the game, Calls into the postgame were asking when we would see the 3rd overall pick hermit picking up a win behind Jacoby Brissett. So where what did the rookie quarterback do on the sidelines during his first game as a pro?8 takeaways from the Patriots' season-opening win over the Bengals.https://t.co/tKxpB1hpBF https://t.co/9yCG4OADy8

Many people wanted Maye to be the starter to bring excitement to a group projected to finish in the bottom of the standings. He also may have won the completion that Mayo preached so much. But In the, the Patriots were right in starting Brissett during a stretch that sees the patriots playing 3 games in 11 days. Several times you saw Maye on the sideline with an ear piece in listening to the plays. I thought it was interesting he didn’t have a helmet on and wasn’t Involved during some of the sideline visits and never warmed up after some big hits to Brissett. But was this all according the plan? It certainly was according to Scott Zolak. He’s never heard plays come in before, Which may also mean the qb wasn’t ready to start this season.
We all want to see the qb with a big arm and mobile skills. We also know exactly what Brissett is and that was enough to start the season 1-0. The home opener is this week, and although Maye is not scheduled to see action I will be watching his development on the sideline in which I like to call it Mayewatch! The good news is they have a plan, they’ve had one all along. Now they look to go 2-0 on the season while development their biggest asset while showing progression as a team.
