Perillo on the Patriots QB decision
The New England Patriots and Head Coach Jerod Mayo didn’t officially name a starting quarterback today. Paul Perillo of Patriots.com joined Felger and Mazz and gave his thoughts on the lack of a starting QB announcement.
Paul Perillo: Yeah, I’m not exactly sure and I would definitely say I thought it was odd. I went to that press conference fully expecting him to say, you know, probably Jacoby Brissett and here’s why…”this is what we decided, and we’re going to move forward and this is what we’re going to go with in week one…” I was very surprised when he off the top said that he wasn’t prepared to do that and wanted to talk to the individuals involved first. You know, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, I felt like there was ample opportunity to do that, so I’m not really sure why…
Paul Perillo: Almost everything that he said after that would point to…it’s still Brissett. But then I started thinking I’m like, in terms of talking to the individuals, I mean to me, it’s like if it’s Brissett, it’s 30 seconds. Like, “hey, Drake, you’re our guy. You know, we love what you did this summer. We think you’re getting better every day. It’s a matter of when not if. But right now we feel like Jacoby puts us in a better position with his experience….”But if it’s Maye, doesn’t it require a little more explanation to Brissett?
