“We’re Trying to Build Something Special”…
Zolak: What do you like that you’re seeing out your football team, and of what Jerod and Elliot have done so far?
Robert Kraft: I’ll tell you, last Thursday night I went over to Jerod and shook his hand and I said, “first time in 25 years I can say to someone, we’re ready to build some new, great chapters”. You know, we’re so lucky to have had Bill for the 24 year period, and what we were able to accomplish here in the culture. I don’t know what our record is going to be this year, but I’m very excited about what’s going on right here at this level. But having seen how Jerod, Eliot, and Matt Groh and the new coaches, I think it’s like 18 or 19 new coaches. I’ve been worried about how things would get integrated here. I’m really proud the way it’s coming out. Look, like what’s going on now, the little brouhaha that erupted, we’ve got to go through these things. But what’s really good is everyone’s on the same page. We’re trying to build something special, and the fan support has been great. That means a lot.
Bertrand: Robert, you’ve told some great stories over the years about Drew Bledsoe when he was young, and when Tom Brady was young, and when Mac Jones came in as a young quarterback. What are your first impressions and how excited are you about Drake Maye?
Robert Kraft: Yeah, the first thing that I really liked is when we drafted him, he came here and his three brothers came with him. They all came, and they were a unit. They’re a strong family, and it just told me about the kind of support. You know, I worry about these young kids coming in here who have received NIL income and that they’re not about winning and putting the team first. He’s comes in early, and he works hard. I think he has a good foundation and I think we’re going to build something very special. I love the way the coaching staff is developed and, you know, it’s a big learning curve here. It’s a really a great atmosphere with the players. But now we got to deliver on the field.
