The Patriots signed rookie running back Deshaun Fenwick on Monday, 10 days after releasing him.

On Monday, the Patriots swapped a pair of UDFAs on their roster. That included signing a player who was previously with the team this summer.

As first reported by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Patriots signed rookie running back Deshaun Fenwick on Monday morning. Fenwick, 24, first signed with the Patriots as an undrafted rookie free agent following the draft back in May. He went through spring practices and the start of training camp with the Patriots, before being released last Friday.

Now back in New England Fenwick will look to compete for a depth running back spot, most likely on the practice squad. Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson are set at the top of the depth chart, with Kevin Harris the favorite for the third running back role. JaMycal Hasty and UDFA Terrell Jennings are also in contention for that spot.

In college, Fenwick began his career at South Carolina where he played for three years before transferring to Oregon State in 2021. In 13 games last season he carried the ball 96 times for 515 yards and five touchdowns.

The Patriots made a corresponding move in signing Fenwick, releasing UDFA defensive end John Morgan. Morgan has also been with the team for most of the summer, but did miss the last two practices. These two moves leave the Patriots with an open spot on their 90-man roster.
