Marc Bertrand: Why did the Patriots bail on Brandon Aiyuk?
On Wednesday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Marc “Beetle” Bertrand questioned why the Patriots bailed on the Brandon Aiyuk sweepstakes.

Why not at least drive the price up?
Marc Bertrand:
I have a question. Why did they feel the need to get out? Why did they get out of the conversation? I think they were getting used, right? I think these guys, Elliot Wolff, Matt Groh, the Patriots front office and the team, the franchise, were all probably being used like a rented mule in this situation, right? They were beating the bag out of the Pats, getting that number up, up, up and then shopping it back to Cleveland and shopping it back to Pittsburgh. You know what I would say to the Patriots? So what? Why’d you bail? Why bail at that point? Just drive the price up for somebody else. What’s the point of you bailing on the conversation even if you get to a point where you say, oh man, we’re getting used here. He’s not coming here. He wants nothing to do with us. Why get out? What because of your pride? Because you don’t want to look like you got used? Because you don’t want it to come out that maybe you are offering more and you didn’t land the player. Why get out of the conversation? That I don’t get. I don’t get why they quit and walked away. For what? If you lose, you’ll lose . You’re gonna lose either way. You’ve lost now. You didn’t get the player. So what, you think you look better by walking away and saying, well, you’re not going to use us. We’re excited about our young receivers. No, you’re not. You’ve been trying to acquire this guy since March and the fact that Adam Schefter put that out there for you twice is kind of gross on his part.
