Davon Godchaux has finally gotten his new contract.
As first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Patriots and Godchaux have reached an agreement on an extension for two years and up to $21 million, including $16.5 million guaranteed. This is an unsurprising development after Godchaux's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, paid a visit to Foxboro to meet with Patriots brass during training camp.
Godchaux, 29, has played all 51 possible games for the Patriots in three seasons, with 50 starts as their primary nose tackle. He's compiled 183 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, nine QB hits, and 2.5 sacks in his time as a Patriot.
Godchaux has been a full participant in padded practices for the Patriots this week, which was an indication that his contract situation was reaching a resolution. The Pats may especially need Godchaux more than expected in 2024, now that star interior defender Christian Barmore is out indefinitely after suffering from blood clots.

There's still one key contract situation to watch in New England, as Pro-Bowl edge rusher Matthew Judon awaits a new deal. New reports indicate that the Patriots offered Judon a new contract at some point since the start of training camp, but Judon himself denied the report.
As for Godchaux, he now joins Barmore, Rhamondre Stevenson, Jabrill Peppers, Joshua Uche, Kendrick Bourne, and Hunter Henry as the Patriots players who have re-signed from within. It remains to be seen if Judon will join that list.
