Patriots week 1 starting QB odds

We are a few weeks away from the opening of NFL training camp and there are a few teams that will have position battles at the quarterback position. When it comes to the Patriots, the team seems to be on the same page when it comes to who the starter will be. The team signed Jacoby Brissett in free agency to a 1-year 8 million dollar contract. The plan has been for Drake Maye, who was drafted third overall out of North Carolina will sit behind the Brissett and learn from a veteran at the position.

The odds are out on who will be the week 1 starter for the Patriots. Per Betonline, Jacoby Brissett -265 to start the season under center. Drake Maye is listed at +180. This should not come as a surprise for some but as a bettor, their may be some value to bet Maye in this spot. In 2021, Cam Newton was favored to be the started and was beat out by Rookie Mac Jones who was listed at +110 and won the job. If something should happen to Brissett in the preseason, Bailey Zappe could still place ahead of Maye as the team wants him to sit early on with some question marks with the offensive line.

Maye was on display in this weeks episode of Hard Knocks. He showed off his knowledge with Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll going over terminology. It was also mentioned that New York offered the 6th pick and a first next year to move up 3 spots with the Patriots to select Maye.
