Felger & Mazz: Luka Doncic came out of the NBA Finals looking the worst
Felger, Mazz, and Jim Murray discuss the performance of Luka Doncic in the NBA Finals and how he came out of it looking worse than anyone else in the series.
Felger: Who took the biggest hit in this series? Who was the biggest loser?
Jim Murray: Oh I think Luka Doncic did, without question. You know I got all over him for the game 3 fouling out and the whining and all that, but last night I thought was the worst game for him in the series. He just kind of quit. I think he got really frustrated by the Celtics defense and then he didn’t hit a three until late in the fourth quarter. I just think, look he’s one of the best players in the league there’s no doubt about that, but he’s got to drop some weight and there’s still another level for him to reach. I think this should be for Luka Doncic, and if you’re just a fan of the league, you’ve got to hope he’s learned from this because if he comes back looking the way he did in this series in the postseason next year, then it’s really never going to change with this guy.
Mazz: I mean, to their credit, they called him out during the broadcast, or I think it was Doris Burke who even said it during the broadcast about, like, he’s got to get in better condition or something like that. So she was on him and they should be. Like the guy has got to take it seriously.

Jim Murray: It was just, he looked uncomfortable last night.
Felger: So last night I thought was his worst performance, his worst showing, and I know that the numbers don’t bear it out because he was 12-25, so he’s almost 50% from the floor.
Jim Murray: He grinded it out 28 points but it didn’t feel like it.
Felger: He scored 28 points and had 12 boards, but I felt he was more passive last night than he was at any point in the series. He was more invisible at times than at any point in the series when they needed him the most. I don’t know why last night felt like the worst to me but it. It felt like it was just his worst showing.
