Drake Maye to visit Gillette Stadium on Friday
As the NFL annual meetings last month, New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo told reporters that the team planned to host the top quarterbacks in the NFL Draft at Gillette Stadium for ‘top-30’ visits. One of those visits will take place Tomorrow.
According to The Patriots are hosting North Carolina QB Drake Maye on a 30 visit tomorrow at Gillette Stadium, per sources. New England holds the third overall pick, and met with Maye at the combine, and again before his pro day in Chapel Hill.

Beyond their meetings, there has been plenty linking the Patriots and Maye. Last week, ESPN’s Mike Reiss noted that Maye “is squarely on the [Patriots’] radar if he is available.”
That last part is the key question. Even if the Patriots’ front office believes Maye is their quarterback of the future, they’d still need him to fall to the third pick. The major consensus at this point is that USC’s Caleb Williams will go first overall, but there’s still uncertainty about the second pick, and if the Washington Commanders will go with Maye or Jayden Daniels. However, there was some news on that front on Thursday, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter saying on his podcast “I think the signs continue to point to Jayden Daniels being the 2nd overall pick.”

As of Thursday evening, the Patriots have not set a top-30 meeting with any of the other top quarterbacks (although they still have time to do so).
UPDATE: Daniels is expected to visit the Patriots on Monday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Maye is the fifth top-30 meeting to be reported for the Patriots, joining offensive tackles Kingsley Suamataia from BYU and Darrell Simpson from Tulsa, linebacker Nathaniel Watson from Mississippi State, and edge rusher Austin Booker from Kansas.

Throughout the pre-draft process, NFL teams meet with prospects sometimes on multiple occasions. These meets can occur at showcase games like the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl, the NFL Combine, can be organized officially (top-30 visits), or be arranged in a number of other ways.
While these meetings aren’t always a perfect indication of who a team will draft, they often provide a general guide of the kinds of players a team is considering drafting. Tracking meetings can also come to fruition later on when a draft class hits free agency.
Last year the Patriots only had an official pre-draft meeting with one of their draft picks (Christian Gonzalez) and signed another as a UDFA (Malik Cunningham). In 2022 they met with two draft picks (Jack Jones and Marcus Jones) and another UDFA (D’Eriq King). Make of that what you will – the more pessimistic fans can use meetings as a guide to players the Patriots won’t be drafting.
Who have the Patriots met with in 2024? Here’s a running list. Be sure to check back throughout the offseason as the list is updated.
This list doesn’t include the players who were at the Patriots’ local pro day. That group can be found here.
