Here Were The Top Brands Represented At NBA All-Star Weekend
The second half of the 2023 – 2024 NBA season is about to tip off. During the All-Star break in Indianapolis, we saw many NBA players sporting some flashy brands. Whether it was flashy kicks on the court, or gear picked out to arrive at the arena in, fashion choices were certainly on display.
Kevin Durant’s Boardroom recently detailed all the sneaker brands that top players wore at the All-Star game. In this, Nike was the runaway winner. According to Boardroom, Nike had ten different players sporting their kicks during the Indianapolis festivities. The Jordan brand and Adidas were tied for second with four players each. Furthermore, what’s additionally fascinating here is that Nike owns the Jordan brand. In addition, Nike owns Converse, who also had one player in the All-Star game. So, this means that technically, Nike-related shoes were worn by 15 of the 26 players. That’s roughly 58%.
Which Players Wore These Nike Kicks?
This another area where the swoosh brand shines. Some of the biggest names in the game are under their label. We’re talking about LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, and Jason Tatum (Jordan). Surprisingly, Stephen Curry seems to be single-handedly keeping Under Armour in the game. Curry was the only athlete representing this brand.
Sure, the point here is how powerful Nike’s reach is. However, the players aligned to some of the other brands is equally as intriguing. For example, young Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the guy rocking Converse. Tyrese Maxey had New Balance on. Then, Sketchers, not a name you usually affiliate with the NBA, has also come on as of late.
Although Nike has made their mark in basketball, evening as the uniform provider, seeing some other names hit the hardwood as allowed for more creativity. The NBA has long been synonymous with the best sneakers. Boardroom even has a section dedicated to just sneakers on their website.
The 2024 All-Star basketball game itself was not great, but the sneakers worn by the stars were. Typically, this mid-season showcase is an opportunity for players to wear a different colorway or even a new sneaker model that their brand will be launching. This year, the East team defeated the West (211 – 186), but Nike was the winner amongst all the brands at All-Star weekend.
