Joey Goes To The Grammy’s
The 66th Grammy Awards took place on Sunday night in Los Angeles. It’s a big night for the recording industry and the stars were on stage at Crypto arena. The big winners of the night were Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Jay- Z. There were plenty of new names in the spot light such as SZA, Dua Lipa, Jon Baptiste and best new artist Victoria Monet. It was hard for me to keep up with the new artists but the familiar faces took home most of the hardware.
There were plenty of tributes throughout the night. The “In Memoriam” segment, Stevie Wonder honored Tony Bennett. Annie Lennox memorialized Sinead O’Connor and Fantasia honored the late Tina Turner. One of the best moment of the night was when Tracy Chapman made a rare appearance with Luke Combs to perform “Fast Car.”
Joni Mitchell performed for the first time at the Grammys at 80 years old. While Celine Dion made a surprise appearance to present album of the year. Billy Joel performed his first new song in 17 years and ended the show with ” You May be Right.” Metallica also won the award for best metal record.

Taylor Swift has made plenty of headlines, but she cleaned up on the awards and revealed that she has a brand new album set to be released on April 19. “It’s called The Tortured Poets Department,” she said during her acceptance speech for Best Pop Vocal Album. “I’m going to go and post the cover right now backstage.” She went on to join Olivia Rodrigues on stage to the song Vampire.
