Joe Murray: Another Belichick Draft “Steal”
We may need to add another to the Bankroll Bunch. Patriots receiver Kayshon Boutte reportedly is being charged with computer fraud and Gaming Prohibited for Persons under 21.He is also accused of illegally gambling, using that fraudulent account, to place thousands of different bets including some on LSU football.
The wagers and payouts involved “several hundred thousand dollars,” Some of the wagers were allegedly placed while he was still a player at LSU in 2022 said one source familiar with the case.
LSU has responded with a statement regarding the allegations.
“In July 2023, LSU was made aware of allegations regarding a former student-athlete’s improper conduct related to sports gambling while enrolled at the University. Since then, we have fully cooperated with all relevant authorities involved in the investigation and will continue to do so. We have no evidence that any other student-athletes participated in these prohibited activities, and we are grateful for measures that detect and discourage sports gambling related misconduct.”
Well forget about keeping your toes in bound on 4th down, Boutte is now on the toes of spending time and jail and being released from the Patriots. This is another example of the Patriots trying to hit on a troubled player and trying to get the most of it. Jack Jones, who showed promise as a defensive back before a gun charge and being released during the season. Bill missed again.
Boutte faces online gambling charges from when he was a minor, including:
– Creating a fraudulent online gaming account indicating he was at least 21 years old.
– Illegally placing thousands of different bets, including some on LSU football, with wagers and payouts coming out to “several hundred thousand dollars”
– While he was a player at LSU
I didn’t see the Patriots named is this report, Boutte will be cut and eventually will be out of the league. So much for my rookie cards.
