HIGHLIGHTS: Celtics get back on track with win over Rockets
Coming off the sting of a hard-fought loss to the Nuggets on Friday night, the Celtics got back to their winning ways Sunday in Houston with a 116-107 win over Ime Udoka’s Rockets.
Boston big man Kristaps Porzingis led the way for the Celtics with 32 points, due in large part to a 6-for-11 night from three-point range, and added five blocks and six rebounds by the night’s end.
The 32-point outing was the third-highest scoring effort of the season from the 7-foot-3 Latvian, trailing only a 34-point in a Jan. 2 loss to the Thunder and 35-point effort in a Dec. 28 win over the Pistons.
In addition to the big night from Porzingis, the Celtics also got solid contributions from Jaylen Brown, who racked up 13 points, 10 assists, and 11 rebounds for the third triple-double of his NBA career.
The contributions from Porzingis, Brown, and Derrick White (21 points) allowed the Celtics to get by on what was a quiet scoring night from Jayson Tatum (18 points on 4-for-17 shooting), and in a game that was all Boston.
The Rockets, who were led by 25 points from Dillon Brooks, never had a lead larger than a single point, and never recaptured the lead beyond the midway point of the opening quarter of play.
The Celtics will get back to work Monday night against the Dallas Mavericks.
