Updated Belichick Next Team Odds
We may be closer to Bill Belichick’s next destination. While the Cowboys announced that Mike McCarthy will be back next season, the Eagles still have not made a moved on Nick Sirianni. Atlanta has interviewed many candidates including Jim Harbaugh who may be the favorite to land the Chargers job. The Falcons have set up a second interview with the future hall of fame coach.
Per Josina Anderson. Barring a snag in negotiations or a future development (still have to get a signature), I’m expecting Bill Belichick to become the next head coach of the NFC South* Atlanta Falcons. His previous rapport with #Falcons CEO Rich McKay creates comfort he can’t mimic in any other building with a current vacancy.
Owner Arthur Blank is very skilled at being convincing and selling the benefits of coming to Atlanta—as I learned from Calais Campbell. The GM dynamic in Atlanta is presumably more palatable for Bill in Flowery Branch than it would be in Philly, and as mentioned both sides have been talking about this through for a while; thus my previous reports. I expect Belichick to reunite with some members of his former staffs whenever he makes it official.

Will not be a head coach in Week 1 +140
Per Bert Breer, What those who know Bill Belichick have said is that the way the organization is setup will be a big piece of whether or not he takes the Atlanta job. I’d expect if he goes, we’ll see a mix of guys he’s worked with/knows coming together (some NE, some Vegas) to coach for him.
Matt Ryan recently commented on Belichick going to Atlanta.
“Well, here’s the thing, there’s a lot of baggage that comes with that because of what happened in the Super Bowl, and so it’s an awkward thing. But if you look at the organization, like Jonathan said, an owner that is getting older and is anxious to win right now. And you look at their roster, we had them twice this year. They’re built to win, they really are. The defense plays good football, they’ve got an excellent offensive line, good skill positions, but they’ve got to figure out the quarterback. I think Bill Belichick makes sense if they get a veteran guy. I think if you’re drafting young, I think you go with a younger coach. Somebody that’s gonna be there longer. But if you’re gonna take a veteran [quarterback], I think he makes sense in Atlanta.”
