During this morning’s Toucher & Hardy show, Fred discussed the new intro for the recently launched program. While Wallach initially thought the intro was good, both Hardy and Wallach agreed that it needs to be changed. Fred suggested a democratic approach to selecting a new intro by having John, Dan, Mike, and Nick each pick an instrumental song or loop. Hardy’s idea, the current intro, will also be kept in the mix.
CURRENT SHOW INTRO: ‘Night Boat to Cairo’ by Madness
The plan is to play one song a day, preview each, and let the audience on Twitter (or X, as it’s called) pick the new intro. Fred seems open to the idea and mentioned he might join in if he feels the efforts are less than stellar. The conversation included humor about potential song choices, with references to Fatboy Slim and themes from movies like “Love and Basketball” and “Poetic Justice.” The discussion also touched on a personal anecdote involving The Curly Shuffle being handed to Wallach before a basketball game.
Last month, Rob “Hardy” Poole, previously on “Zolak and Bertrand,” announced as the new co-host on the morning show, officially named ‘Toucher & Hardy’. This announcement followed Rich departure from the show in early November.
FORMER SHOW INTRO: ‘Honey Bucket’ by the Melvins
‘Honey Bucket’ by the Melvins was the former intro for Toucher & Rich but has been retired out of respect for the former show. Now the search is on for a new intro that matches the same level as ‘Honey Bucket.’
If you have any suggestions, feel free to share your ideas on the show’s social media accounts.

Chaim Bloom has found a new job
Former Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom is back employed in baseball. On Monday, the St. Louis Cardinals announced they are hiring Bloom as their advisor to the president of baseball operations.
Bloom, 40, spent 15 years in the Tampa Bay Rays organization before being hired by the Red Sox to run their baseball operations prior to the 2020 season. The Red Sox would go on to finish in last place in the division in three of the four years under Bloom, who was fired by the Red Sox in mid-September.

The Red Sox ended up replacing Bloom with Craig Breslow. So far Breslow’s big moves have been removing players from the roster, including trading away Chris Sale and Alex Verdugo. Verdugo was one of Bloom’s first big adds in Boston, acquired in the Mookie Betts trade.
Now in St. Louis, Bloom will help president of baseball operations John Mozeliak and general manager Mike Girsch turn around a Cardinals team that finished last season at 71-91. It was the first time the Cardinals missed the playoffs in five years, and their first sub-.500 season since 2007.
