It’s Jets week, can you believe it? It’s the final week of the NFL regular season and both teams are out of the playoffs. When you look at the history of the Patriots it’s hard not to include the Jets involvement. The first was Bill Parcells leaving New England after the Super Bowl in 1997 to become the Jets new head coach. There was Bill Belichick leaving as the HC of the NYJ to become the new coach of the Patirots in 2000.
There were plenty more over the years, Mo Lewis Hit, Foot Jokes, 2 AFC Championship games for the Jets along with the butt fumble. Drafting Zach Wilson, trading for Aaron Rodgers and potentially the final game of the Belichick era.
The Jets and Patriots have a lot of history. There is a lot on the line this week considering neither team is in the playoff race.
#1 This could be Bill Belichick’s final game as head coach of the Patriots
#2 The Patriots are currently in the top 3 of the NFL Draft, a win could change that.
#3 The Jets Losing Streak
#4 Bill Belichick can tie the record for most losses in coaching history
#5 The Patriots and Jets both do not have a long term succession plan at QB.
For the Patriots, they may have a complete rebuild while the Jets will hang on to Aaron Rodgers for another season. They still do not have a long term plan at the QB position. The Patriots will have Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe under contract next season, but they should draft a quarterback early in the draft. The Patriots might have a leg up on the Jets in that category by losing on Sunday. A win for the Patriots could take them out of the top 5.
The Jets can snap a losing streak on Sunday and end the Belichick era in New England.
