Jaylen Brown Over The last 3 Games
The Celtics have lost 2 in a row after last night’s 106-103 loss in Philadelphia. The green had a chance with 8 seconds to go, but a missed shot by Kristaps Porzingis came up short. The offense struggled from the floor shooting 39% and went 15-47 from behind the arc. Derrick White returned to the lineup scoring 19 points in 38 minutes. The Celtics had a double digit lead in the second quarter then things fell apart. The 76ers finished the quarter on a 37-19 run shooting 5-8 from the three point line and went into halftime with a 61-54 lead.
Jaylen Brown had 5 points in the first half and shot 2-9 into the third quarter. The Celtics scored a combined 19 points in the frame. He was benched early in the 4th after a costly turnover although did hit back to back threes to make it a one possession game. He finished the night with 11 points and has struggled to start the season. His 9 turnovers over the last 3 games are eye opening. Bringing it Jrue Holiday to handle the ball late in games was supposed to help Brown. He has been a -13 during this 3 game stretch and the offense has struggled with him on the court.
Brown along with Jayson Tatum combined for 27 points in the loss to Philadelphia. They were outscored by the duo of Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey who combined for 52 points. In the loss to Minnesota Anthony Edwards had 8 points in overtime while the Celtics finished with 8 points combined. The opposing teams’ stars have been playing better than the Celtics. It was Kristaps Porzingis who took the final shot and not Brown or Tatum at the end of the game.
The Celtics get back to work on Friday night when they host the Brooklyn Nets. It is the start of the NBA’s new in season tournament games.
