Patriots bring back wide receiver on practice squad
The New England Patriots’ wide receiver room has gotten plenty of attention in recent weeks. Heading into Week 10, that room is getting an addition.
On Tuesday, the Patriots announced the signing of receiver T.J. Luther to the practice squad. Luther gets the spot previously opened up when defensive tackle Jeremiah Pharms was signed to the active roster last week.

For Luther, 23, this will be his second stint with the Patriots. The team first signed him to the practice squad after final roster cuts, and he remained on the practice squad until being released in mid-October. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound wideout remained unsigned until returning to the Patriots on Tuesday.
Prior to joining the Patriots, Luther entered the league as a UDFA in 2023 with the New York Jets. He was with the Jets throughout spring practices and training camp before being released as part of final roster cuts.
Luther began his college career at Wofford, before transferring to Gardner-Webb in 2021. In 2022, he was named first-team All-Big South after catching 55 passes for 1,035 yards and seven touchdowns.
Prior to re-signing Luther, the Patriot didn’t have any wide receivers on their practice squad. They do have six on the active roster in DeVante Parker (who missed last week with a concussion), Demario Douglas, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Jalen Reagor, Tyquan Thornton, and Kayshon Boutte.
