Zolak & Bertrand: The Football Card – Week 8
The crew owns a record of 21-14 after Week 7 with Beetle and Hardy the only winners. Unfortunately, Zo, T-Bone, and Milliken weren’t so lucky.
Zo bet on the Browns (-2.5) taking care of business against the Colts, but they only won by a point. Beetle put his faith in the Eagles (-2.5) over the Dolphins and won his fifth straight. Hardy nailed his pick of the Broncos (+1) against the Packers. T-Bone snapped his win streak by taking the Bills (-8) over the Patriots. Lastly, Milliken was back in the loss column after betting on the Bucs (-2.5) beating the Falcons.
One of the biggest questions we get each week is what betting lines do we make our picks from. In past years, sports betting wasn’t allowed in Massachusetts, but that barrier has finally been broken down. Check out Bet MGM to see the exact same lines the guys are looking at.
Scott Zolak (4-3): Jaguars @ Steelers – Steelers (+2.5)
Despite the Jaguars winning 3 in a row, Zo isn’t phased because of their poor pass defense. That should be a nice recipe for success for a struggling Steelers offense. Feels like a good spot for Mike Tomlin’s crew to surprise at home.
Beetle (6-1): Raiders @ Lions – Lions (-8.5)
Beetle is all in on the Lions putting a beatdown on the Raiders after an awful loss to the Ravens last weekend. He thinks Dan Campbell is going to have his players ready to go with Jimmy Garoppolo likely being out. Perfect get-right matchup for the Lions at home.
Hardy (4-3): Bengals @ 49ers – 49ers (-4)
While Brock Purdy might not be able to play on Sunday, it doesn’t matter to Hardy. The Bengals haven’t looked like themselves this season and the 49ers are due for a win after back to back losses. Lots of faith in Kyle Shanahan’s gameplan taking care of business in this one.
T-Bone (6-1): Patriots @ Dolphins (-9)
T-Bone learned his lesson after last week and is now expecting the Patriots to hang with the Dolphins on Sunday. Tyreek Hill is a bit banged up and the Patriots secondary has been gaining confidence since J.C. Jackson returned. After New England’s offense gained some confidence last week, this is a major week for them to get their season back on track.
Milliken (2-5): Texans @ Panthers – Texans (-3.5)
Milliken is going outside the box with his pick this week. Texans and Panthers won’t be pretty, but C.J. Stroud has been balling out this season with Bryce Young badly struggling. Not to mention, Frank Reich just gave up play-calling duties to Thomas Brown, so this should be an opportunity for Houston’s defense to make some noise on the road.
