During this morning's Toucher & Rich, Andrew Callahan from the Boston Herald was asked about the possibility of the New England Patriots trading their head coach, Bill Belichick, what they might get in return and the conditions under which such a trade would make sense, considering Belichick's history and age.

WATCH HERE:

They guys also discussed the potential destinations for Belichick and debate whether it's realistic for him to continue coaching. Rich again mentions the idea of reuniting Bill Belichick with former Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels (if he's fired by the Las Vegas Raiders). Ultimately, they acknowledge that Bill Belichick's age is a factor in any potential trade.

"Rich: If the New England Patriots indeed entertain a trade and try to get some sort of value for Bill Belichick and trade him to another team. First of all, A.) do you see that being a reality? And B.) what do you think they could get for him?

Boston Herald's Andrew Callahan: Oh, it's a great question, but I have to, you know, snip it at the start because I think when you're talking about Bill Belichick in a trade, this would have to be somewhere where he wants to go. Like, as bad as it's been this season, as bad as it was a year ago. Twenty of the previous 22 years were the greatest run in NFL history. Sure. Arguably the greatest dynasty in modern pro sports. So when you're Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick, they've had rocky points in the relationship. I think you would just have to reach a point where it's best for us to part ways. This hasn't worked in the last four years. And if Bill wants to continue coaching, you just let him hit the market. He gets to set a new contract, he gets to go. Because if you trade for him, you're taking stuff out of the cupboard that he would then have to go open on a new team, and he doesn't want that. The team doesn't want to prolong this in a way that might get a bit ugly with the trade in terms of what he's worth. It's a really good question because, you know, the old price tag was a couple of first-round picks, and it was more of an even feud between the Jets and the Patriots. His track record as a team builder has been."

Greg Bedard: 10 questions from around the NFL after Week 6

Greg Bedard of BostonSportsJournal.com joined the Felger and Mazz program on Tuesday following the New England Patriots 21-17 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in Las Vegas. While on, Greg Bedard did his weekly “10 Questions” segment on the program following week 6 of the 2023 NFL season.

The 10 Questions

Miami Dolphins v New England Patriots

10. What's the worst team you ever covered? Any year, any sport?

Greg Bedard: The 2004 Dolphins. The first team I covered as a beat writer. It started when I was at the urinal and found out mid-stream that Ricky Williams had retired and then it just got worse from there. Dave Wannstedt was fired after starting 1-8. Jim Bates was the was the interim coach. It was just a complete disaster. And where does this team rank? Well, I don't know. I kind of want to see them get to 1-8 and then see what happens.

9. Should Tyreek Hill have been penalized for his backflip selfie the other day?

Greg Bedard: Hey, it's fun. I understand. But the rule is no props. Like they have to enforce the rule or who knows what the hell these guys are going to bring out. I'm sorry. It's the rule. Can't do it.

Los Angeles Chargers v Tennessee Titans

8. When you watch the Los Angeles Chargers play football what do you think?

Greg Bedard: It's like going back to my childhood and watching Dan Marino. Like his last ten years with an ineffective coach and bad roster around him.

7. Name a quarterback who just needs a change of scenery?

Greg Bedard: Well, I'm assuming that Brandon Staley is going to be fired, but with the Spanos's and how cheap they are, I guess that's not a guarantee. But I say Mac Jones. I think him and Bill are done. He needs to go to either Josh McDaniels with Jimmy Garoppolo hurt or one of the Shanahan family.

6. Give me an early candidate for coach of the year?

Greg Bedard: DeMeco Ryans. Give it to him now.

5. Who has been the biggest toolbag of this Patriots season?

Greg Bedard: DeVante Parker.

Buffalo Bills v New York Jets

4. What's wrong with the Buffalo Bills?

Greg Bedard: No Brian Daboll. No running game. And injuries.

3. Mike Vrabel will be inducted into the Pats Hall of Fame on Saturday. List in order of importance Pats defenders from that era and stop when you get to Vrabel....

Greg Bedard: I don't have a great frame of reference with this era, so I'm interested to see what you think of my list: Tedy Bruschi, Willie McGinest, Ty Law, Richard Seymour, Mike Vrabel.

2. Dante Scarnecchia will also be inducted into the Pats Hall of Fame this weekend. List in order of importance Patriots assistant coaches over the last 23 years and stop when you get to Scarnecchia....

Greg Bedard: Ernie Adams, because of the cheating. And then Dante Scarnecchia.

1.What's your least favorite thing about the NFL or its games right now?

Greg Bedard: All the penalties. But that's you get with the new practice rules. The players just aren't good enough on the fundamentals anymore.
