Patriots are 3 point underdogs in Vegas
The Patriots and Raiders will meet again this season in Las Vegas, after last season’s epic ending. Vegas will be on a short week after their 17-13 win over Green Bay on Monday Night Football. Both teams have yet to score over 20 points in a game this season. The total for the game is set at 41.5. The Patriots have scored 5 points since their last touchdown in Week 3 and are averaging 10.6 points per game.
The Raiders opened the game as 2.5 point favorites. Money is coming in on the Vegas side and has moved the line to -3. That does not bode well for Mac Jones, he is 0-12 in his career as an underdog and has been benched in back to back games. It’s not knows if he will start on Sunday, but Bill Belichick gave no real answer when asked if he will be under center.
The game has many storylines. The Patriots are feeling the loss of Jakoby Meyers, who had 7 catches for 75 yards and a touchdown on Monday. The Patriots decided to use that money on Juju Smith Schuster, who left Sunday’s game with an injury. Josh McDaniels spent years in New England and once thought as a replacement for Belichick. Jimmy Garroppolo will have another chance vs his former coach after defeating them with the 49ers 33-6 in 2020.
I’m not sure how the Patriots will find ways to score. They have not been able to protect or run the ball. Max Crosby will be a problem for the right tackle of the Patriots. If you like the Raiders, you may want to get the line now before it goes past 3. As for the total, crazier things have happened, but I expect that to go down. The good news for the Patriots is the Raiders have yet to blow anyone out this season.
