Mike Reiss: If Mac Jones doesn’t start this week, it’s over
Quarterback concerns persist in New England as Mac Jones was benched once again in favor of Bailey Zappe for the second consecutive game and the Patriots were shutout by the New Orleans Saints 34-0. ESPN’s Mike Reiss joined Zolak and Bertrand on Tuesday and shared how he believes things will shake out with the QB drama:

Is there a chance Mac Jones could get benched ahead of the Raiders game?
“I think there was a chance if you asked me that yesterday. The reason Bill Belichick switched the schedule around where he gave the players off Monday was so he could get together with his staff and figure out what to do with that decision. And so I this would be my what I what I think happened is they measured it out and considered all the different scenarios and ultimately came back to Mac. And so I do buy what Bill O’Brien said today that that he anticipates Mac will start Sunday against the Raiders.”
“It comes with a warning veto that if you make the same play that you made on the sixth offensive snap of the game, it’s over. Like, I think that’s it. It’s like a warning because to me that that’s after talking all week. Gotta limit the turnovers. Better decisions. Live for the next play or series to make that mistake again. To me, you, from my view of it, you just took the whole team right down with you. So for Mac, I think he’s fortunate that there isn’t another quarterback on the roster that the coaches view would be an upgrade because if there was, we might not be having the discussion that he’s going to be starting on Sunday. So I’d start with that and he has to start getting guys to those point to follow him.”
