The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in collaboration with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), is conducting an emergency alert test to ensure the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) for cellphones and the Emergency Alert System (EAS) for radio and television are functioning correctly in readiness for a real emergency, such as a natural disaster, acts of terrorism, or other threats to public safety, including those of a national scale.
Additionally, it's worth noting that this impending test has given rise to unfounded conspiracy theories circulating online.
False claims have surfaced about an upcoming emergency broadcast test on Oct. 4, suggesting it will activate nanoparticles like graphene oxide inside people. The truth is, this nationwide test will use a familiar audio tone, and there are no known health risks from it, according to FEMA. These claims revive old and debunked conspiracy theories linked to COVID-19 vaccines.
During this morning’s Toucher & Rich, Fred, Rich and the other guys discussed the upcoming emergency broadcast test today, which has sparked conspiracy theories online with people believing the government wants to turn everyone into zombies using this test.

Deciding on the best bar pizza can lead to food debates, with everyone having their personal favorite and sparking passionate discussions. But don't worry—I'm here to share my top (revised) picks for the best pizzas in town!

Here's the definitive list of places to get bar pizza around Boston and the South Shore (in no particular order):
LYNWOOD CAFE
Burgundy bar stools, arcade games, and wood paneling. Lynwood Café has everything, including delicious bar pizza. Their ‘zas are famous enough to tempt folks from all over. They come for the local color, they come for the cheap beer, and they come for the pies topped with Boston baked beans.
CAPE COD CAFE
Cape Cod Cafe claims to be the original spot for South Shore bar pizza since 1939, as per their own story. They're well-known for their mastery in this style and have four locations, with Brockton being the first. Their fame has reached nationwide, with frozen versions available for bar pizza fans missing home. Whether you're a local or far away, Cape Cod Cafe is the go-to place for top-notch bar pizzas.
HOT BOX
Hot Box, located in Somerville's Bow Market since 2018, specializes in takeout featuring North Shore-style roast beef sandwiches and a unique pickle pizza topped with hots. While some South Shore locals may see it as a trendy spot, Hot Box's 10-inch pizzas stand out for their crispy perfection, competing with classic cheese pies and offering creative options like the Brunch #1 with eggs, bacon, and pepper gravy.
UNION VILLA
Family owned and operated, Buddy's Union Villa holds the esteemed title of being Easton's oldest bar and grill establishment. Since its inception in 1974, Buddy's has remained steadfast in its commitment to serving the finest bar pizzas in the area.
TOWN SPA PIZZA
Town Spa is a big deal in the bar pizza world. It's got a spacious, nostalgic vibe that reminds you of where your folks used to take the whole little league crew. After all these years, this family-friendly spot still rocks, even having a separate entrance just for takeout. They even do mail-order pizza now, which is awesome for folks who moved away from the South Shore. And let's not forget their famous pickled pizza – don't diss it till you've tasted it!
POOPSIE'S
Don't miss Poopsie's in Pembroke – a local gem satisfying South Shore residents since the '70s. It's so popular that you might have to wait for takeout during busy times. But it's worth it for their bar pizzas with thin, crispy crusts and tasty toppings like feta and chili. Poopsie's takes pizza seriously, so dive in and enjoy the deliciousness!
J’s FLYING PIZZA
J's in Bridgewater has been a favorite among bar pizza lovers since the 1970s. Their specialty pizzas, like the taco pizza, blend perfectly burnt cheese with a crispy thin crust, creating an irresistible option for pizza fans.
HOEY'S PIZZA
Hoey's, situated in a local American Veterans Post, is a fantastic spot for bar pizza fans. Their menu features a range of toppings like salami, anchovies, and more, catering to diverse tastes. If you're craving something indulgent, don't miss out on the Fat Daddy pizza, with double the dough, cheese, and sauce for an incredibly satisfying bite.
VENUS
The Venus, with locations in Marshfield, Whitman, and Hanson on the South Shore, is known for its fantastic bar pizzas, a real crowd-pleaser. They go the extra mile by offering gluten-free dough and innovative "sweet pizzas" topped with tempting combos like apple cinnamon and Oreo cookies, catering to all tastes, even those without specific dietary preferences.
TRADING POST LOUNGE
Being told by my friends in South Shore Bar Pizza Social Club that Trading Post deserves to be on the list! Okay! I've never been to this location, but based on the photos online, I don't think I'll be dissappointed!
