What did the Patriots see wrong in Jakobi Meyers?
The New England Patriots fell to the Philadelphia Eagles in week 1. On Monday’s Felger and Mazz, Felger had a problem with the receivers on the team and was wondering….why didn’t they re-sign Jakobi Meyers, who was the top option of Mac Jones in recent years.

What was wrong with Jakobi Meyers?
Felger: What was wrong with Jakobi Meyers? Someone needs to tell me what was wrong with Jakobi Meyers!
Mazz: Nothing.
Jim Murray: He wanted too much.
Felger: He was the guy that Mac Jones went to on third and fourth down. And it was there time after time after time. Yes, Jakobi Meyers did not take the top off the defense “WEEEEE”! He didn’t go running down the field like an a-hole.

Jim Murray: What was his stat line yesterday?
Felger: Nine catches on ten targets, 81 yards, two touchdowns. And I don’t know how many first downs were part of that, but I bet a crap ton because the guy just caught first downs and moved the chains. But “weeeeee, way to take the top off the defense. He didn’t set coverage! Weeeeeee!” Or, oh I don’t know maybe he turned down Belichick’s first contract offer last year and Bill said, “F-you, I’ll replace you. You don’t say no to me”. So here comes JuJu Smith-Schuster, who’s still not even healthy and I’m sorry is not going to be as good as Jakobi Meyers. He’s just not. He might be a better player, but he’s not going to be that guy. So some combination of the team being cheap or vindictive or something. I mean, why is Jakobi Meyers not here again? Somebody to answer me that why he’s not here. And so at the end of the game you’ve got either JuJu Smith-Schuster, who doesn’t get it or may not be ready or physically ready or whatever, or a kid who just got here as a rookie and that’s who you’re throwing to in those situations. So you get what you paid for from the receiver spot. I thought at the end it was more on the receivers than it was Mac Jones.
