NFL Week 1 Overreactions
Week 1 is almost finished in the NFL so it’s time to wildly overreact to this weekend’s games. The NFL season has just started but what are the biggest takeaways from week 1 so far?
Green Bay Packers (38) @ Chicago Bears (20)
The Chicago Bears were one of the most talked about teams in the offseason looking to take a big step forward in Justin Fields second season, however that was not the case at all on Sunday. Bears fans were having flashbacks to the last 20 seasons as Jordan Love carved up their defense and their offensive line had Justin Fields running for his life most of the game. It’s only week 1 but if you’re a Bears fan that was about as bad as week 1 could have went. While Packers fans are thinking can we really be that lucky getting another franchise QB? after decades of great QB play.

Cincinnati Bengals (3) @ Cleveland Browns (24)
The Cincinnati Bengals headed into the season as Super Bowl hopefuls after handing Joe Burrow one of the largest contracts in NFL history. Burrow heavily disappointed in his first game with the new contract throwing for only 82 yards and looking lost at times. The Cleveland Browns on the other hand were hoping a full offseason for Deshaun Watson would help turn him back into Houston Texans Deshaun Watson. Watson wasn’t stellar by any means throwing for only 154 yards and one interception but the Browns defense was stellar and Watson did enough to get his team over the hump. It’s not time to panic for Bengals fans as Burrow started slow last season in a rough loss to the Steelers to start the season but if things don’t look significantly better in week 2, Bengals fans will be starting to worry.

San Francisco 49ers (30) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (7)
The 49ers like the Bengals started the season as Super Bowl hopefuls but unlike the Bengals they looked every bit the part on Sunday. The Steelers on the other hand were supposed to be a team on the rise in Kenny Pickett’s second season but he struggled and their defense didn’t look like Steelers stout defenses of the past. It’s only week 1 but the 49ers look like they’ll be one of the final two teams in the NFC already.

Philadelphia Eagles (25) @ New England Patriots (20)
The defending NFC champs headed into Foxborough with hopes to get back to the Super Bowl, while the Patriots were looking to get back to Patriots football after an up and down season last year. The Eagles got off to a hot start going up 16-0 after some costly Patriots turnovers, after that though the much talked about Patriots defense stepped up holding the Eagles to multiple 3 and outs giving the new Patriots offense numerous chances to get back into the game. Mac Jones struggled early in the game but righted the ship and seemed to find his stride in the second half. Eagles fans should be happy to get out of Foxborough with a win but the stagnant offense in the second half is a cause for concern, while Patriots fans are sick of moral victories Mac Jones play in the second half and their stout defense should have fans optimistic headed into week 2.

Dallas Cowboys (40) @ New York Giants (0)
The week 1 Sunday night game featured the “always” at least in their eyes Super Bowl hopeful Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. This game was over just as quick as it started, the Cowboys were dominant on both sides of the ball with their defense led by super star Micah Parsons scored early in the game and the Giants never recovered. It’s only week 1 but I’m sure Cowboys fans are all in on this teams future and have their sights set on Las Vegas in February.
