Patriots rule wide receiver out for Eagles game, get update on Rhamondre Stevenson

Attention, fantasy owners: the New England Patriots got a pair of updates on two key pieces of their offense heading into Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
First, the good news: running back Rhamondre Stevenson is expected to play, as reported by the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport Saturday night. Stevenson was listed as questionable for the game on Friday, after missing practice due to an illness.

The Patriots have also been managing Stevenson’s workload throughout the off-season, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he had “maintenance days” during the season, as well. But it’s good news for those who drafted Stevenson as one of their top-2 running backs in their fantasy leagues.
The bad news, however, comes at the wide receiver position. DeVante Parker is not expected to play Sunday, as reported Saturday night by Jeff Howe of The Athletic. Parker was limited in practice throughout the week with a knee injury, then listed as questionable for the game.
Parker likely wasn’t going to be started in many fantasy leagues on Sunday, outside of the deepest leagues. But it’s news worth knowing for owners who took a flyer on him late in their drafts.

Parker was projected as a major piece of the Patriots offense. When he’s healthy and available, we expect him to play virtually every snap as the Patriots’ primary “X” outside receiver and big-play threat. It’s a disappointing start to the season for Parker, who has struggled to consistently stay on the field due to injury throughout his career.
This could mean a big day for rookie wideout Kayshon Boutte, whom the Patriots drafted this year in the sixth round out of LSU. Boutte projects as more of a perimeter receiver than fellow rookie Demario Douglas, who is better suited in the slot. But it wouldn’t be surprising if we saw plenty of Douglas, or some kind of timeshare between the rookies.
The Patriots also have former Eagles and Vikings receive Jalen Reagor on the practice squad, but the deadline to elevate him to the main roster has already passed. The Patriots also signed receiver/running back hybrid Ty Montgomery to the main roster. He will back up a group that’s headlined by Kendrick Bourne and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

From exciting quarterbacks who can score big with their rushing skills, underappreciated running backs who can break through defenses and receivers who are eager to catch every pass, Mike Lockhart has crafted a list of players who will make an impact in Week 1. Don’t overlook the elite tight ends who can make a big impact, whether they score touchdowns or not. And keep an eye on the defense and special teams units, especially when they face inexperienced quarterbacks in the opening week. They could be game-changers.

In any case, let Lockhart share some budget-friendly daily fantasy football options for Week 1, considering the offseason changes and the possibility of Travis Kelce missing the opening game.
THURSDAY NIGHT
Sam Laporta
Drafted in the second round to replace TJ Hockenson, he’s expected to see a lot of targets throughout the season. Consider him as a buy-low option in daily fantasy.
Jerrick McKinnon:
With 9 touchdown catches last season, McKinnon could be a valuable asset if Travis Kelce is out. He might get plenty of looks, especially in the red zone.
Noah Gray
If Kelce is sidelined, Gray could become the starting tight end. He’s an inexpensive short-term option, and tight ends have been productive recently.
