Phil Perry reveals one X-factor for the Patriots against the Eagles
Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston was in studio with Zolak & Bertrand ahead of Sunday’s season opener against the Eagles at Gillette Stadium. Phil recently gave out his x-factors on offense and defense for the Pats, but who does he think could be an x-factor for the team in Week 1.
Phil Perry’s X-factor for Sunday against the Eagles
“I like Kendrick Bourne even more now, knowing that Devonte Parker’s been banged up. So he becomes even more important, more of an X factor, because I think he’s your best replacement as an outside the numbers kind of guy. He’s truly versatile, in my opinion. You could use him inside, you could use him outside. But when you have Juju Smith-Schuster available, you have Pop Douglas available, Bourne to me becomes that outside the numbers type of player.”
“X factor to me is you are in some ways sort of a bellwether. Like if you play really well, the team has a chance to do really well. If you don’t. It could go in the other direction. You’re sort of you’re sort of almost under the radar, though, a little bit.
“If this guy has a thousand yard season, and I think he has that kind of upside. – he had an 800 yard year two years ago, it would be relatively easy for him to exceed those numbers. If that happens, I think you have a chance of being a really good football team. And same for Christian Gonzalez on the other side. If he ends up looking like some of these first round quarters tend to look in today’s game, your defense takes another step. It jumps up another level.”
