Did JuJu Smith-Schuster just admit that his knee isn’t right?
For months, there’s been constant speculation about the health of JuJu Smith-Schuster‘s knee, and it seems like he’s finally admitted the injury is a work in progress.
Smith-Schuster opened up about the health of his knee after Albert Breer said it was a “mess” earlier in the week. In an interview with Karen Guregian, he explained that “I don’t think my knee is a ticking time bomb… if anything, it’s something that’s getting stronger every day.”

What do you mean it’s getting better?
Marc Bertrand: There’s one thing that stands out to me here. He says his knee is getting stronger all the time. If anything, it’s something that’s getting stronger every day. Stronger every day? Is it good or not? If your knee is good and healed and it’s not an issue anymore, why is it getting stronger every day? Are you still rehabbing? Are you still dealing with something? I assume you are when you say something like that.
Ted Johnson: It’s hard not to to think that way. It really is. And I’ll be honest, have you seen much of him in training camp? Have you heard much? Has he popped? Can I get one day of Juju Smith-Schuster went off. Not once. So it leads you to believe that, you know, (Albert) Breer might be on to something. The ears in the cornfield thing with the receivers this year is bothering me a little bit just because these guys seem to respond to a lot of the stuff that comes their way.
Marc Bertrand: The antennas are up.
Ted Johnson: The antennas are up. That’s always an indication that the team isn’t as cohesive as it needs to be. So that’s something to to be concerned about. But the fact that he hasn’t really done anything in training camp that’s newsworthy or noteworthy is concerning. And so it’s obvious, I think, for all of us talking heads to point to the knee. I mean, the fact that he’s talking about swelling in a knee from a six hour flight, you know, in the offseason and it being part of maybe why his knee wasn’t feeling great in the offseason is a little bit alarming to me. It’s just a little bit troublesome. The Jakobi Meyers thing, him going to the Raiders. I just said that is a guy that you want to promote, pay, hoist up and kind of have as a face of your franchise because he did it the hard way being undrafted and he’s your leading receiver the last three years or so. I’m going to compare JuJu’s production to Jakobi Meyers, and right now it’s not even close.
