New England Yacht Club Named One of East Coast’s Best

A New England area yacht club was recently named by Boatline.com as one of the best yacht clubs on the east coast. Newport, Rhode Island is home of the historical Newport Yacht Club, which has been around for over 125 years.
Boatline opens their report by detailing how boating clubs offer numerous opportunities to meet like-minded people. As a luxury vessel with plenty of outdoor space, a yacht is designed to welcome and accommodate groups of people. Waterfront clubs along the east and west coast are designed specifically for yacht-sized style charters. Therefore, the scene results in gatherings of boaters who enjoy fishing, sailing, and cruising.
Best on the East
To highlight their three selections on each coast, Boatline looked at the facilities, activities, social opportunities and body of water where each club was located. Often yacht clubs follow a membership-based model. It can require a monthly or annual fee, which covers a spot for your boat, some clubs have docks, fitness centers, recreational parks and activities along with it. The theme centers around attracting boat enthusiasts with extensions that offer other interactions.
Newport
The Newport Yacht Club dates back to 1894. Situated on the Narragansett Bay, the club has been a well-respected establishment. They still require members to have an invested interest in advancing the development of yachting and racing.
Newport has both junior and senior-level members. Their sailing is broken into categories. There’s onshore sailing, offshore sailing, international and then junior level. Furthermore, their “Frostbite” sailing is one of the more unique options in the Northeast. It’s a competition in the winter months that starts in January.
They maintain a full social calendar with various events throughout the year. “Club members also enjoy close access to Downtown Newport, a full bar and pub, indoor and outdoor lounges, grill nights, Sunday brunch, and full-time security. The club is also located near multiple golf courses and tennis courts for additional sports opportunities ,” Boatline explains.

Two Of Massachusetts Coastal Towns Ranked in USA's Top 10
North Shore, South Shore, Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard. There certainly is no shortage of shoreline in the Bay State. Two Massachusetts towns were selected as a USA Today top 10 coastal town.
10 Best is USA Today‘s travel coverage series highlighting attractions, destinations, and food items around the county. They look for unique charm with homegrown flavors. Furthermore, they were looking for “waterfront charm.” Not only is Massachusetts the home to two of the selections, but it was also the only state in the Northeast to get the nod. According to the final rankings, these two towns are both in the top five!
So what are the towns?
Provincetown and Marblehead are each considered a Massachusetts top coastal town. The tip of Cape Cod and North Shore shipyard landmark. 10Best calls out Provincetown’s spread of galleries and museums as main attractions. In addition, Marblehead Neck Wildlife Sanctuary was listed as part of Marblehead’s nature-friendly environment.
Looking at the history of these two summer hot spots, it’s no surprise that their quaint appeal led them to landing on the top 10 coastal town list.
Provincetown is 17.5 miles of unique beachfront and harbor-side living. Often called P-Town, the year-round living population is roughly 3,600 people, while the seasonal population can reach as much as 60,000. Commercial Street is known for its Cabaret establishments, restaurants, and art shops.
Marblehead is about three hours north of Provincetown. You can actually take a boat back and forth. On a map it looks like these two destinations are staring at each other. Marblehead is about 19 square miles with a population of over 20,000. One of the main tourist attractions here are the numerous sailing options out of Marblehead harbor. Finally, it is infamous for its commercial fishing wharfs, thus there are also six yacht clubs spread throughout the area.
