Scott Zolak is Boston sports media’s go-to voice when it comes to recreational boating and marine life. The two topics have become a fixture of the conversation on Zolak and Bertrand during the summer season.

Boating and marine life combined Sunday off the coast of Manomet Point in Plymouth when a whale breached and briefly landed on a fishing boat.

A listener sent this video to Zo on Twitter:

"I know a lot of people are criticizing the boaters for being too close to whales on the harbor," Zolak said. "I've been out a mile or two with many other boats and the whales pop up right around us next to the boat to play. It's not always the boater's fault. It's a big risk."

NBC 10 Boston spoke with Plymouth Harbormaster Chad Hunter, who said the boat incurred some damage but was able make it back to the boat ramp under its own power.

“The boat was in the right place at the wrong time. This could have been much worse for all involved," Hunter said. "Children like to lean over the side of the boat to watch the fish so it is very lucky that nobody got hurt here. An incident like this is pretty rare but very dangerous to boaters.”

Zolak is on vacation, but will have full commentary about the whale incident when he returns to the show Wednesday when the show begins their live coverage of Patriots Training Camp from Gillette Stadium.
