Just about an hour before tip-off of their Game 4 matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks, the Celtics have made a lineup change. Center Robert Williams will miss the game due to left knee soreness. Grant Williams will start in his place.
Williams tore the meniscus in that knee in late March, and had to undergo surgery that cost him the final month of the regular season. It also kept him out for the first two games of the C’s first round sweep of the Brooklyn Nets.
During the regular season, Williams averaged 10 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game while playing 29.6 minutes per game in 61 games. In five playoff games since returning from the original injury, he’s averaged 6.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks in 20.2 minutes per contest.
This is the second time in this series the Celtics have had a starter ruled out just before game time. Point guard Marcus Smart missed the Game 2 win with a quad injury.
The Celtics will go for the Game 4 win and series equalizer Monday night at 7 p.m. ET. Coverage begins at 6:30 on the 98.5 The Sports Hub Celtics Radio Network.
