Rare Bill Russell, Celtics memorabilia to go up for auction this month
Two historic pieces of Celtics memorabilia will be auctioned off in a special collection from Hunt Auctions honoring Bill Russell.

In celebration of Bill Russell’s impact on both basketball and civil rights in the United States, a Russell jersey and warm-up jacket will each be up for auction, per a press release for the event. The jersey is expected to sell for $400,000-$600,000, while the jacket will be in the range of $50,000-$100,000.
Other items from Russell’s career, from paychecks to Hall of Fame rings, will also be up for auction at the event. Here are the highlights from the "Bill Russell collection" and estimated price tags:
-- Celtics jersey, circa 1950-60s, est. $400,000-$600,000
-- Warm-up jacket, circa 1960s, est. $50,000-$100,000
-- 1955 Helms Athletics Foundation Player of the Year Award, est. $5,000-$7,500
-- 1956 Olympic Basketball warm-up suit, est. $25,000-$50,000
-- Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame replica ring, est. $10,000-$20,000
-- Personal check signed/endorsed by Jim Brown, est. $1,000-$2,000
Bids will begin at noon ET on Friday, Apr. 22.
