Red Sox reliever Ryan Brasier allowed a two-run homer to the Tigers’ Javier Baez in the eighth inning en route to a 3-1 loss at Comerica Park in Detroit on Monday. Baez took a 2-2 fastball from Brasier out of the park to left field, making the difference in the game.
The Red Sox’ bats went silent in this one, as the team could only muster four hits in the game. One of them was J.D. Martinez’ first home run of the season, which at the time tied the game 1-1 in the fifth inning.
Michael Wacha allowed just one earned run in 4.1 innings in his Red Sox debut, giving up two hits and three walks while striking out four. The lone run came on a Miguel Cabrera sacrifice fly in the first inning.
