Highlights: Bruins wrap road trip with 4-2 loss to Capitals
A Lars Eller go-ahead goal at the 7:18 mark of the third period proved to make the difference in a Sunday head-to-head between the Bruins and Capitals, as Washington took the showdown by a 4-2 final at Capital One Arena.
Eller’s goal broke the sides out of a 2-2 deadlock through 40 minutes of action, as the sides combined for four goals second period, with Boston’s tallies coming from Curtis Lazar and Erik Haula.
In net, Bruins netminder Linus Ullmark did everything he could to keep the Black and Gold in this contest, with stops on 11 of 12 third-period shots faced and a 27-of-30 line in net by the day’s end.
The B’s played without winger David Pastrnak and defenseman Hampus Lindholm for the second straight game, and the Bruins added another injury to their plate by the end of Sunday’s game after Matt Grzelcyk exited with an upper-body injury.
The Bruins will return home for a Tuesday night meeting with the Blues.
