Highlights: Shorthanded Celtics come up just short vs. Bucks
A Celtics team without Jayson Tatum and Al Horford put up one hell of a fight, but ultimately failed to leave Milwaukee with a victory on Thursday night, as the Bucks prevailed over the C’s by a 127-121 final at Fiserv Forum.
In a game that saw the Celtics erase a 13-point deficit at one point, the Celtics were paced by Marcus Smart’s team-leading 29 points on 10-for-16 shooting, while Jaylen Brown recorded his second career triple-double with 22 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds in over 37 minutes of action.
And in addition to the strong showings from Brown and Smart, the Celtics as a team knocked down 21 of their 50 tries from beyond the arc. That is tied with two other games for the fourth-most in any Celtic game this year, and just four away from matching the season-high (and franchise record) of 25, established in a Feb. 15 win over the Sixers.
The Bucks, meanwhile, bested the Celtics’ efforts with 29-point efforts from both Jrue Holiday and Giannis Antetokounmpo, and a fourth quarter that saw them score 18 of the game’s final 25 points.
With the win, the Bucks pushed ahead of the Celtics for second place in the Eastern Conference.
The Celtics will conclude their regular season Sunday night in Memphis.
