Trevor Story has been a busy man since signing his six-year, $140 million contract with the Red Sox. From returning to the field for minor league action to stepping away for the birth of his child, the infielder has had an extended buildup to his first major league game action of the spring.
Wednesday marks Story’s official Red Sox debut, as the big league club hosts the Atlanta Braves at JetBlue Park.
As the new second baseman ramps up for Opening Day, Alex Cora announced that Story will be in the lineup Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
Story will bat sixth and play second this afternoon against the reigning World Series champions. Here’s the full expected lineup:
Kikė Hernández, CF
Rafael Devers, 3B
Xander Bogaerts, SS
J.D. Martinez, DH
Alex Verdugo, LF
Trevor Story, 2B
Bobby Dalbec, 1B
Jackie Bradley Jr., RF
Christian Vázquez, C
Wednesday marks the first true look at Story since choosing the Red Sox in free agency.
“This is a very, very attractive place for me,” Story said in his introductory press conference. “That’s why I chose this place.”
The Red Sox and Braves are expected to start at 1:05 p.m. ET.
