Despite suffering what looked at the time to be a serious knee injury on Sunday, it now seems Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore avoided any major issues. Since Sunday night, the reports surrounding the rookie have been increasingly positive.
The latest update comes from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who said Monday afternoon that Barmore’s Monday morning MRI “came back clean,” and that “no major injury [was] revealed.” This comes after a Sunday night report that the initial tests cleared Barmore as well.
Even with that update, Barmore’s availability for next week’s wild card game in Buffalo remains up in the air. The next big indicator will be whether or not he is at the first practice of the week, which will likely be on Tuesday.
Drafted 38th overall by the Patriots last spring, Barmore immediately became an impact player in New England as an interior pass rusher. He played 55 percent of the team’s defensive snaps this year, totaling 46 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
Left tackle Isaiah Wynn also left Sunday’s game early due to an ankle injury. There’s been no update on his condition since the game.
