Will the Patriots use Hard Knocks to scout the Colts?
Bill Belichick is known for scouring for every bit of information possible when he prepares for an opponent. This week, as the Patriots get ready to face the Indianapolis Colts, he’ll have a bit more information at his disposal than usual.
Ever since Week 10 the Colts have been the focus on an in-season edition of the HBO series Hard Knocks, which gives an inside look at the day-to-day operations of an NFL team. The series usually takes place during training camp, but this is the first time a team is being shown in-season.
It’s not impossible for other teams to scout opponents through the show. In 2012, then-Texans defensive end J.J. Watt claimed he picked up the Miami Dolphins’ snap count by watching Hard Knocks. Since then, the show has started showing less of what happens on the field itself.
Still, that doesn’t mean there’s definitely nothing to be gleaned from watching the show in 2021. So, will Bill Belichick have a staff member comb through the four episodes that have aired so far?
